School of Architecture: The Structure
Parallel Processing and Movement Moving Part 1: The Ring Rotational movement appears throughout nature and the ring is a means of travelling in ways elevators cannot. From the ground, students access the various pavillions and platforms via The Ring (stops highlighted in brown). The glass covering allows views and orientation to be taken in while travelling. Inside, Platforms inside provide a more open and social transit between viewpoints. The Ring was inspired by the idea of rotational oscillators, like those of computer CPUs or clocks. The design is that the humans of the university are moved as a resourse into the building and bring animation to the rooms and spaces, in the same way electricity is moved through a machine. Moving Part 2: The Slope The Slope raises from the lower floor of the garden area, connecting the user to the higher level and related lookouts/ spaces. The movement of The Slope unites people to a higher perspectiv
